the assignment was to read the short story titled Indian Camp by Ernest Hemingway from the book “IN OUR TIME” and write a paper about a question or questions you have developed. Below is my teachers post from the class website. My questions are …. What can we learn from Indian Camp? What has Nick learned from his father? Nick is an observant child that chooses to avoid some of his observations. Hemmingway’s visual descriptions of the different settings in this short story give insight into places and scenarios that seem familiar like memories. Nick and his father are both experiencing the same situation during the childbirth but their reactions are different, is this because of the age difference? Is the doctor unfazed by the Indian woman’s screams and the violent suicide of her husband because he has become desensitized over time?

These were just my questions and you don’t have to follow them if it is too difficult to write about. I will also include examples of my classmates entries to the class website about their questions and thesis for their papers. The Indian Camp short reading is also listed in the additional materials section. Thank you!!

-There is a question at the heart of your paper. Pretend I am someone who has read the story, but not thought about it deeply. Explain to me the question you are exploring. You don’t have to literally ask the question…just give me the necessary context so I can understand the conversation we are going to have in your paper.
<
<
-Thesis: forcefully and clearly answer that question. Give us an argument
<
<
Body Paragraphs:
<
<
-Identify three or four separate ways you will PROVE the argument you just made. EACH PARAGRAPH HAS ITS OWN FUNCTION. There are lots of things you could talk about in this conversation…your paper will choose the most important ones. Three to four paragraphs, each representing individual PROOFS of your thesis.
<
<
-In each paragraph: observation and analysis. If you color coded your observation and analysis blue and yellow, you should see them dancing throughout your paper.
